🖖🏿Such great moments from both episodes today. I loved them for different reasons.
“Dos Cerritos” had great moments for most of the characters. I wish we saw a little more of the moments of divergence when the crew started getting on each other’s nerves. I suspect we’ll find out what Boimler’s divergence point was since our Brad stole the PADD.
The best moment, of course, was Other Mariner giving our Mariner the Sarcastic Vulcan Salute™️. “So that’s what that feels like…”
But the Tendi plot, especially in “Shades of Green”, was pure distilled Trek. Learning about her pirate crew and how none of them wanted to kill and had their own dreams, up to the “cute-iny”, was such a sweet subversion of the Orion stereotypes. And the twist that D’Erika was hiding things from D’Vana to *protect* her because she knew our Tendi didn’t want to stay away from Starfleet was just beautiful.
And the payoff that the Tendi Family can bounce right back and rebuild their fortune thanks to Starfleet connections and being the “official” “disposer” of material wealth from a post-scarcity society is perfectly appropriate for Star Trek. I loved it!
Okay, I should’ve known that a doomsday machine would’ve been too conventional…. Having the giant green hand of Apollo grab a Borg cube in the demolition derby is brilliant! I had to pause and rewatch the credits because I was laughing so hard. 😂
And then there’s a Tholian web and frikkin’ V’Ger too! https://tenforward.social/@minutiaeman/112901444579846991
It’ll be a few months yet before we get to see Lower Decks, but there’s one important question that’s been bugging me lately: What weird or obscure ship is going to join the interstellar demolition derby —err, battle— that we see in the opening credits? My money’s on a classic TOS doomsday machine. #StarTrekLowerDecks
