@paulhellyer dude on the left could be cosplaying actor László Bánhidi as Uncle Matula in the 1967 coming of age / youth adventure TV series Tüskevár. It is far more likely though that the character was in fact based on people like him.

@ClareBear @paulhellyer it's only 14 years after the 1954 world cup, they would still be seething over Puskás' disallowed equaliser against West Germany in the final that Hungary went on to lose 3:2. My grandfather was still bitter about it in the nineties.

@bobthetraveler he was not in charge of anything though, he'd defected to the Soviets in the autumn, and called for other senior military officers to do the same without any effect whatsoever. Hostilities continued into early April when the Red Army pushed the remaining German and Hungarian forces out.

@narthur @kissane tricky. If you are in a power relationship, there are better ways of people management, if they are below organisationally but not reporting to you, it may come across as passive aggressive.
