There is so much reporting on ChatGPT as the ultimate "dark pattern" right now that it kind of makes you wonder what AI developers thought they were making and for whom...but then, that is always the question.
It is the fundamental nature of AI to be used as a tool of power. Often missing from the debate is that the already-powerful are the primary buyers and therefore the reason for most AI to exist. This product for landlords claims to use ML to predict the perfect rental amount that some renter is willing to pay, thereby optimising profit while likely disenfranchising many renters. Too bad there is no business model to flip the script and optimise odds for the renter...
