A Q I've seen: "How did this stay quiet so long?"

Quote from the article:
"Many sources who spoke to Science declined to be named out of fear of legal action from Bogner or of losing GISAID access."

Scientists depend on GISAID access. Fear is powerful.

The ‘invented persona’ behind a key pandemic database

GISAID offers a safe space to post viral genomes. Peter Bogner, its perplexing creator and overseer, may be jeopardizing its future

Over the last few years, we've been working on a machine learning project to identify which viruses can infect mammals, and then zoom in on those that can infect human.

The results are now out: https://www.cell.com/patterns/fulltext/S2666-3899(23)00078-8

In the process, we've also updated global maps of viral diversity, showing more undiscovered interactions in the Amazon, and more undiscovered zoonotic hosts in Africa.

Anyone ever trade in lab equipment, like the Bio-Rad trade-up program or the Thermofisher Lab-Forward Trade-In Program? Would you be willing to share what kind of deal you got?
LEGO pipette!
Does anyone watch cable tv anymore? If so, keep an eye out for me on the Discovery Channel and CNN!

This looks to be an interesting book. Haven't read any reviews yet.

What new molecular biology or microbiology equipment has been a game changer for you recently? Do I need to think about any new toys? (FWIW I have some liquid handlers, dPCR, Kingfishers...)
There goes the Dollar Store mixing science and religion again. #jesus #germs #bargain #Bogo
Whee!!!! I generated a Mastodon feed to embed on my lab website - and now you can too!!! Easy code generation at https://www.mastofeed.com/
