Thrilled to share that the Marquette Center for Data, Ethics, and Society and the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute are hosting the 2024 AI Ethics Symposium on November 21 at Marquette University. We are lucky to have the esteemed Alondra Nelson and @cfiesler as keynote speakers. A full day is planned, but drop in as you can. Free and open to the public.

We are very early in a larger analysis, but if you plot the monthly average sentiment of reviews posted for the top 20 #femtech apps for tracking women's sexual health and wellbeing, it looks like this. Guess what happened in early 2022 when the average drops from positive to negative? (we have lots of rich data to start to process)
I just registered for ACM #SIGCSE2024 and I like their "Buddy Brogram" to help ensure newbies have a good conference experience. More conferences should do this.

I've now finally been able to view the full "Zuckerberg: King of the Metaverse" documentary (hopefully will stream outside the UK soon!), and I'm pleased with how my contribution discussing The Zuckerberg Files fits with the overall narrative.

Got my copy of the updated "Doing Digital Methods" by Richard Rogers. As I note in my blurb, this is a "comprehensive guide to the practical techniques of digital methods with an emphasis on the critical evaluation of the growing use of online social data for research. Updated with chapters on Instagram and TikTok, Rogers provides an essential book for those seeking to navigate the intricacies of digital research methods."
This still isn't going well.
Earlier this year I flew (randomly) to Dallas to film an interview for a documentary about Zuckerberg and the Metaverse, focusing on my work curating The Zuckerberg Files for over the past decade. "Zuckerberg: King of the Metaverse" will air on Sky in the UK next month, and I'll share broader streaming details once I learn more.
Only a few more weeks to get my 2023 citation count over 2022's numbers. Clearly a vital measure of my self-worth. :)
Could write an entire dissertation on this tweet.
