Fun fact: Oil and gas company Ampol claims it paid $6.6 billion in taxes last financial year.

But that is almost entirely made up of fuel taxes and GST which is actually paid by its customers.

The ATO reported that Ampol paid $0 in income tax in the 2020-21 financial year, despite more than $20 billion in revenues.

October set a new monthly record for renewable electricity share when averaged across all Australian regions.

Looks like electricity market share for coal dipped below 50% across a whole month for the first time ever (based on OpenNEM data).
