ask not in service of feeling morally superior but in service of knowing the values of those you interact with. so u'll know what they'll fight for, or won't.

but, if u think someone has bad intentions, ask them questions that don't let on & see if they tell on themselves. build a model of their character/desires across time.

asking questions neutrally w/o letting on what ur doing is hard tho bc u can trauma-feel like ur "going along with it" or like they're getting away with tricking u.

i don't find this situation depressing. we do not need to beg for the state's acceptance. we need to destroy all who would stand against us, who would kill or enslave us.

the problem with activism that centers on telling ppl the bad guys are doing bad things is that often they already know deep down. they just don't care.

i re-read a book i loved as a child, dinotopia. & it's... not very much what i remembered.

tho i now realize y i have such positive associations with reptiles. he drew the dinos seeing with dino-vision the souls of all around them, & explained dinos as naturally having great empathy. & said that mammals couldn't see others' souls.

i spent my entire childhood insisting i had a reptile brain & was a reptile, not a human. this really ties that in, what the basis of that association was.

i usually don't take assholes saying things on the internet seriously but what i've seen lately has caused me to revise my position.

i'm thinking about how to respond -- like, letting queer venues know if they don't already that there's a threat, traveling in groups when possible, arming ourselves, keeping alert outside... but tbh it's not enough by far.

identifying and destroying however u see fit the ppl making these threats would be.
