Squishing bugs, one at a time. 🐛🐦

Apparently a disirregardlesser.

More hacking action at the #FreeBSD #Hackathon here in Oslo! Bugs are found, and then more "bugs" are found.

Having Level 3 support in our offices is something we could certainly get used to! ;-D

There's been documentation work, installer work, chasing down pf issues, trying to add architecture number 58 and 59 to #NetBSD (the #486DLC and #NexGen 5x86), discussions about FreeBSD pkgbase, preparing of release notes, and much else.

After a long day, restitution is again offered in the form of #Retrogaming, #beer and food. Today seems to be #MonkeyIsland day.

@ltning Oh no! That's unfortunate.

Did this discovery solve any påskekrim mysteries?

The most owls I've seen at once was 1.
The most owls I've seen in the same night was 3 different ones, a few hours (and km) apart.

If I saw more than two owls out in daylight, I would immediately think of the rotten onion I had removed from the fridge and disposed of earlier that day, and wonder if it could have been a zombie egg.

The fascists love to demonize queer ppl for "making everything about sex" or "making their gender their whole personality" but every time I go to a queer event I am struck by how precisely they have this backwards. Cis society is profoundly sexualized, and literally every interaction is pre-coded with assumed gender. In a queer space, you purposefully never make assumptions about who someone is or what they're up to, so interactions are much *less* coded by gender and *less* intrinsically sexual
Suddenly bolt upright in bed, realising that there are people who never had to experience computers that had USB ports but which couldn't boot from USB

I never ran that particular hw at 10G speeds, but back in 2012-ish, when SSD's were crap and expensive, and SATA supported a max of 6Gbps (including overhead, so efficiently much less), I had a 10G backbone in my home network, 10G interface in my PC, and 10G interface in my file server. I then used iSCSI backed by ZFS as high-perf disk on my Windows PC.

For 10G firewall with 2G uplink: Don't worry about it. But do check assumptions in the OOB config of FreeBSD network stack - there's a lot of timings, sizes, and "be nice to the malicious client" defaults in there.

@simonlbn Would make more sense to move it out of this thread at least. :)

When I choose to play the newest episode of my favourite show, I'm not in the mood to see ads about other shows you're also offering on your platform. Being able to skip it isn't enough - it shouldn't be there in the first place. It's about consent - I consented to seeing the latest episode of $show, I did not consent to seeing the start of the trailer for $otherShow.

If you instead made a trailer reel for "What's new on $streamingService?" and made this easily accessible - say, as the first card on your showcase of all new series on your platform.... I would actually watch it when I'm not sure what show I want to watch.

It's about consent. The fastest way to be disliked, is to not adhere to the absence of consent.
These ads are basically like arriving at the retail checkout, and then instead of processing your pile of goods, the cashier starts yelling at you about how you should definitely buy a bathtub, since you bought soap.

I'm sorry, did you forget the last 200 years of technological progress advancing productivity yet leading us to work even longer hours? If we want to work less, we need unions, not tech.
