We can't help but wonder if the lengthy title is part of the reason that this 1965 film from 20th Century Fox was quickly forgotten...

Decide for yourself after you flip through the promotional pressbook for THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES OR HOW I FLEW FROM LONDON TO PARIS IN 25 HOURS AND 11 MINUTES

We're thrilled to announce that the MHDL collection of Canada's Film Press is now fully online and available to browse!

We're indebted to Paul Moore and Jessica Whitehead, whose ongoing support and tireless work to digitize and prepare materials has made this collection possible. Thank you so much!

Here's an AI rendition of what our servers currently look like.

For the last few weeks, Lantern and the MHDL websites have been experiencing significant traffic (that's great!) which has been causing loading times to slow and often stall entirely (that's bad!) - we understand that it is frustrating and disappointing when these sites are not working like you have come to expect.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our team works to upgrade server capacity and improve reliability.

Well, why not? It's leap year!

We've been keeping the scanner continually running, digitizing our extensive collection of pressbooks. Along the way, we've been discovering (and rediscovering) all kinds of great forgotten classics. Who could forget this Disney classic? THE GNOME MOBILE (1967)

Check it out: https://mediahist.org/reader.php?id=pressbook-disney-the-gnome-mobile
And browse all our digitized pressbooks at: https://mediahist.org/collections/pressbooks/

Next up on the docket for digitization: an extensive collection of pressbooks for some *excellent* B-movies by Monogram Pictures. Though often dismissed as a "poverty row" studio, Monogram's work is an excellent snapshot of an important era of film history, and arguably of graphic design too--just LOOK at those colors!

Check out what's already available online here: https://mediahist.org/projects/monogram.php

Digitization update: we're making great strides in scanning issues of FILM CULTURE held by the @wcftr!

As the scans are processed and uploaded, you'll be able to browse them all on our website:
