Unionized rail workers warned of a “ticking time bomb.”

They called out mass layoffs and overburdened workers.

They watched in horror as safety regulations were blocked.

Now toxic chemicals from Ohio's train derailment could poison the area for years.

We have 3 amazing titles on the Bram Stoker Awards Preliminary Ballot: Naben Ruthnum's HELPMEET; Rebecca Campbell's THE TALOSITE; Cassandra Khaw's BREAKABLE THINGS.

If you are a voting member of the Horror Writers Association and would like digital copies of these titles for Final Ballot consideration, please do let me know. I am happy to send PDFs, mobi, or ePubs.

Stop thinking about the sequel until you’ve finished writing the first book…is my new and not terribly effective mantra.

Many people are desperately afraid of “forever masking.”

I'm afraid of #COVID19 remaining a top five cause of death indefinitely.

I'm scared COVID will leave billions with lasting damage to their heart, brains, and immune systems.

I'm frightened that children infected three, four or nine times will have lifelong health issues.

I'm worried that a rapidly mutating virus could yet spin off a deadly new variant.

Why is it so hard to do something so simple to possibly save a life? #WearAMask

Characters and Competence — Ian Welke, Author

I see lots of complaints from writers about getting reviews that say that their characters are not likable or the same said of characters in movies and TV shows and I wondered is that really a problem, and I’m increasingly thinking that the real problem is that the term “likable” isn’t very precise.

Once upon a time, GOP stood for limited government. In time, it became the party of “cultural conservatism.”

Now, it’s a cauldron of bitterness, xenophobia, racism, homophobia & anti-intellectualism.

Let's be clear: The Republican Party has lost any legitimate reason for being.

Torn between the Schadenfreude of McCarthy's multiple failures and the fear that some inevitable deal includes the words "Lauren Bobert House Intelligence Committee Chair."
Watched Andor for the second time. It was great again, and this time I spotted more of the nuances I'd missed the first time.
