This work was led by Evan Kiefl, a recent graduate of our group, who is not on mastodon. Thanks to his efforts, this study yields new open-source tools, bioinformatics workflows, and insights into evolution and its governing principles.

Did you ever get a rejection from a journal with a review that was so detailed and insightful that you were compelled to write back to the editor to ask whether they could forward your appreciation and gratitude to the reviewer?

This happened to me today, and I realized that that is who I want to be when I grow up:

A reviewer that puts your work to sleep when it has to be done, but does it with immense expertise and accuracy, and kills you firmly but not without sympathy.

It is a new start for me on Mastodon. I am looking forward to slowly building my network here, and I hope to contribute to this community by sharing science from my group and others, and my 2 cents on various matters.
