@m750 As mentioned a push stick is a must. Also never do a crosscut using the fence, it will almost guarantee a kickback.

I would say number one is to stay aware and not to be too casual. I was using a push stick with my cabinet saw and when reaching to remove a cut off I managed to ‘ting’ the end of my finger on the blade. Very lucky, and got a relatively cheap reminder to be more careful. The tip has no feeling but it is still there!
