There's a wildness to the air
A raw edge and damp
Both ends of a rainbow
Clear as crystal, shining bright
A beginning, an ending
And an invitation.
Up here, on the other side
I'm in clearer air
And I can see it now
For what it was.

I don't know
If she knows
That she shines,
Glowing,
The way she does
In the dappled sunlight
Of a July morning.
There are dark clouds
Over the dark peak
Where I once stood.
It's still raining
over there.
But here it's bright
And the moor is beautiful
Dressed in mauve
And purple shades.
Life goes on
And good things happen.

At the tipping point
The deepest breath
The night most white
The very peak
of summer's powers
Springtime hope
Embodied in movement
Deep in the dock field
Thistles and buttercups
Where new Curlew
Weave gently round
tall grasses,
And now six swallows
scouring the timber yard
Where once
there were only two.

Oh no, blackbird
Do not sing here
Find another place
to sing your tones
Away from here
Up on the sharp stones
of the wasted lands
Not here,
where the elder
Is blowing white
Where Rowan leaves stretch
To caress the face of the sun
Whose blossom
Is your heart's delight
Not here,
where the simple songs
of your morning prayers
Sound so bright.
Find another place
to sing your tones.

my first ever mastodon post & #mermay entry
I'm starting a prompt-based #50WordFriday in which a prompt is given on Friday with the idea that #50wordfiction posts may be shared the following Friday. Or people may share a link to their piece. The length may be too restrictive for some, but I've written a lot this length and written about the writing of this length. Sometimes constraints inspire creativity. We may start with sensory, single word prompts. #Microfiction #PromptFiction #FlashFiction #WritingCommunity
@darlingaxe I don't understand why they even bother fitting the pots with a lid.
@rchopgood I knew he'd eventually come around to accepting your insight. It was only a matter of time.
@OwainOakwood Don't forget you can add links in your profile, and make a post with details of your current offerings, and "pin" it so that it's always at the top.
