@KimPerales What the press core SHOULD do is every time they are not invited to a White House press briefing they should run a story saying that they were not invited so they are covering a Democratic press briefing instead. Run THAT on TV news and Donald Trump will change his mind.
@neuroticowl @pteryx @pluralistic For any normal customer, if they just bought an air conditioner then their need for another goes WAY down. However, some tiny percentage of people must exist who are doing AC product reviews or furnishing an apartment building and for them the chance to buy another goes UP. If AC purchases are rare enough then it's possible that the probability of buying another actually goes up after buying an AC due to these rare multi-purchasers.

If you tell the story of the burnt ballot boxes in Portland and Vancouver this week (an important story that warrants attention), also tell how good fire-suppressant design saved all but three ballots in the Portland box, and the efforts of the election workers who contacted those three voters and arranged for replacement ballots.

Things are scary and bad, and often literally on fire. But there are good people and good systems too. Making us forget that is always a win for the worst ones.

@malwaretech If Hailey is not happy with this it sounds like she should just send them a bill for her standard endorsement fee. If she doesn't have a standard endorsement fee now seems like a great time to establish one.
@salgood Yes, well -- it's a GOOD absurdist math joke. 😄
@fasterthanlime I read the proposal and for me it is missing a key part of the motivation. Your example presumes I want to mutate . important and not .data. But I would expect that for different use cases one would want to mutate different fields of the same struct. Can you persuade me this solution is powerful enough for most common use cases? View types, for example, lacks this limitation.

Texas has purged about 500K eligible voters

Oklahoma has purged about 193K eligible voters

Nebraska potentially changing its Electoral count to winner take all so they all go Red

Georgia is requiring 5-6M votes be counted by hand

Red states have closed more than 100,000 polling locations in Black/Latino neighborhoods

This is how Republicans are working to steal the 2024 election https://www.qasimrashid.com/p/how-republicans-are-working-to-steal

And the racist MAGA responses to those calling out their anti-democratic strategy is part of the plan to intimidate us into silence

@simon I don't know of a style guide, but what I do in cases like this is to select the particular words in the text that make up the link so they label the content sensibly.

In this case, the linked code does "back up the data", and it also "backs up the data as JSON" so either would be reasonable.

A secondary criterion I use is the length of the link. Some lengths are too short (I would never make the word "I" be a link), and long sections of link text distract from readability.
