There is a particular indignity that comes from living in America, derived from the experience of waking up in the morning to see reports that Donald Trump has said something profoundly evil, and then needing to type “truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump” into your web browser to see if he actually said that. Once there, you can see a…

The red foam glider finally landed behind the fence of 94-year-old Mrs. X. This particular fun is over for now, until her home health aide comes along tomorrow, sees it as she brings out Mrs. X’s trash and tosses it over the tall chain link back our way.

Admittedly, many things have improved during Mayor Bowser’s terms (it seems like so much after so much pressure, and so many failings due to mealy-mouthed language and corporate capture, and a heavy sprinkling of Vichy inspo). Regardless, Donnie J.T. and his cult are insistent on making D.C. shitty again: from reckless, malicious downsizing as opposed to reform, to effectively stealing 1 billion dollars in local District tax dollars, to dictating sweeping changes from his myopic cataract-laden view through the highly refracting window of “The Beast.

Fuck this stupid war

A friend of ours is active duty Air Force. He got deployed to Qatar for a tour last spring instead of his usual stateside assignment. He’s there now. The base he’s at was one of the first places Iran hit after our attack. My spouse just texted to tell me she saw his wife and daughter arriving at school after very obviously crying together. I mean it isn’t the same as the families that lost someone already, and we don’t know what it was about, but this is a buttoned-down military family who believes in this kind of service (in a way that, frankly, I do not) and it’s fucking shit that they’re exploited in this way and pushed to the edge in this way.

Listening to Marco Rubio condemn the Iranian regime in apart for its “apocalyptic theology.” Well, fuck, bro. You gonna hold that to any of your colleagues and supporters? You’re full of shit. Never mind the imminent threat bullshit
Flickr’s API was the first (besides the internal Jython API of the Grassroots Multiplier product I deployed services on) I worked with. Embedding crowd-sourced photos and maps into advocacy campaigns. https://mjtsai.com/blog/2026/02/28/flickrs-url-scheme/

What bullshit

This would not be the first time the United States government has started a war in the face of significant concessions it asked for. “Operation Epic Fury.” You know Pete Hegseth has a mead notebook with hand lettered “SECRETARY OF WAR” in Sharpie on the cover and a few pages of hand written operation names scribbled out.

If one doesn’t know it is a SCOTUS argument morning, one can make decisions in their Capitol Hill commute that feel fatal. Or, one can take it as an opportunity for breathing exercises.

Serenity fucking now.
