My Roomba routinely get stucks under the couch because it isn’t sophisticated enough to account for lower head clearance when someone is occupying the couch.

Common sense tells me that if they haven't perfected something as insanely simple as robotic vacuums over 20 years, a fully reliable self-driving car is still eons away. Way too many variables.
