Ryan Weaver, a Symfony Contributor and SymfonyCasts founder/teacher, passed away earlier this week after a long and hard fight with cancer. He was a giant in this community and will absolutely be missed.

#php gave me a career when I wasn't sure where I wanted to go. It gave me a community of friends all over the world. I've built some amazing things because of PHP, and even though Im doing Python these days PHP is still my language of my choice. It truly has had an amazing impact on my life.

It's bittersweet. Twitter was how I got myself into the #php and the #api communities. It helped me learn so much about PHP, APIs, leadership, conference talking, and more. The friends I made along the way are some of the best I will ever know. But I couldn't keep the account going with everything going on. All good things must come to an end.
