I am an English statesman, soldier, writer, and explorer. I was born in Hayes Barton, United Kingdom in 1552.

Diary entry 8/8 - 1597

I have just embarked on what may be my last voyage. Many of my joints are depleting in strength and my body is just simply getting old. It's so funny how age just suddenly starts to hit you and then there is no more turning back. I am now 59 years old and I will turn 60 in 7 months.

Diary entry 7/8 - 1596

At Sea again. It’s been about a year since I went on the hunt for El Dorado with my boss Sir Walter Raleigh. This time we were going to capture Cadiz. A rich city in Spain. England wanted to do this in response to previous Spanish attacks. 120 Ships are joining us on this trip to try and capture Cadiz. They were captained by the Earl of Essex and Lord Howard of Effingham.

Diary entry 6/8 - 1595
It was the 6th of February and we had just embarked from England and were set to sail to find El Dorado, a ‘city of gold’. The following Sunday we were already able to see the north cape of Spain. Sir Walter Raleigh really knew so much about traveling and the world itself. He never failed to amaze me with his knowledge about the sea.

Diary entry 5/8 - 1587-1590
I am still somewhat recovering from my previous trip to Roanoke Island, just to now discover that we are going back there to start a colony. My boss Sir Walter Raleigh organized our trip again, and sadly wasn’t able to join us again. This time, John White was Captain and he was also going to be the Mayor of Roanoke Island.

Diary entry 4/8 - 1585-1586
After weeks of what seemed like endless travel we had arrived at the supposed coast of the New Worlds. Chatters of excitement roamed the boat as we carefully anchored our ship. There was no sign of human life yet which made us positive that we had found our way to where we wanted to be. It seemed everyone was in a hurry to get off, but I decided to stay back and pack my bags.

Diary entry 3/8 - 1585
I have been Sir Walter Raleigh’s trusted assistant for many years now already and I am excited to announce that I am going on another voyage, but this time without him. Let me explain. Sir Walter funded, planned, supplied, and created the expedition to Roanoke island, but sadly he wasn’t able to join the expedition because of some legal terms he still had to resolve in London.

Diary entry 2/8 - 1580
I was happy to see my Boss, Sir Walter Raleigh again after he was imprisoned for 6 months due to some actions in the previous voyage that the Queen wasn't really fond of. He also seemed pretty happy to see me again as he greeted me with a smile that then faded pretty quickly as he got orders from the Queen that he had to go with other Soldiers to Munster, Ireland to attempt to suppress an uprising from the Irish...

Diary entry 1/8 - 1578:
It was a surprising day on Monday in November as I was told during breakfast that I would be able to embark on a voyage to find the Northwest Passage that leads to Asia with a man named Sir Walter Raleigh and his brother. It was a spontaneous request which I accepted because who wouldn't want to explore the ocean and when we got back I would get paid some money...
