I wanted to consolidate a few thoughts on google, misinformation, large language models, enshittification, and the fate of the web as we know it.
It started when Carl Zimmer shared this remarkable example of Google being fooled by machine-generated bullshit online.
Why would anyone want to move from a platform owned and controlled by a fascitoid as*** to the platform owned by another data hungry billionaire control freak that does not even allow you to choose WHAT you see and IN WHICH ORDER?
So, my approach is to use Mastodon, while staying on the bird site as long as my preferred content providers are there. Should they move to Threads instead of Mastodon, hopefully interoperability will fill the gap.
