“If we all spent more time focusing on friendships - their building, maintenance, & restoration - we not only would increase our own emotional support networks, health, & resiliency, we would also strengthen our ability to see others as fellow humans who share the same basic needs, vulnerabilities, & fears. I think this is something we need in our ever growing fragmented world, as we struggle against everything from oligarchy & authoritarianism to bigotry & othering.”
Some things to keep in mind as 2025 winds down and 2026 begins.
Some reflections on the recent ASHRAE Decarb Conference & some brief foreshadowing of what I'm hoping to see at Greenbuild this week.
Placing people at the center of what we do - equitably centering human voices & outcomes - seems like a good goal in general.

Spinelessness a critical trait for defending such things as betraying allies, changing the world order, undermining democracy, promoting authoritarianism and dictators, shredding the constitution, increasing the wealth gap, and the list goes on.
