The Bear has my whole heart. I love this show so much. I can't even try to discuss the merits of Season 4 and character arcs and plot lines and stuff bc all I wanna do is spend more time with these characters. Richie 4ever <3
Lucy Dacus sounds so good with her choir of fans singing her lyrics back to her. It was a magical moment (cried 3 times).
I have many opinions on a wide range of subjects. My main opinion, though, is that men should wear sluttier shorts.
Last week I finished Green Dot by Madeleine Gray : a really funny really sad book. The writing style is absolutely delightful. If you’ve got the spoons to handle fraught romance with emotionally inept men, a healthy attitude toward capitalism, an unhealthy attitude toward alcohol and real-life inspired 20-something shenanigans, this book is for you.
Here's a quote to get you into the mood: “Men! It seems I sleep with men now. It’s no big deal, sexuality is fluid and I hate myself, so many things can be true at once.”
I have read all of (the currently available novels and novellas of the series called) The Murderbot Diaries. Murderbot has it all. It’s a commentary around free will, personhood and capitalism. If you were the type to get obsessed (like me), you could also spend hours thinking about the use of technology in Murderbot, about sex and gender in Murderbot, about race in Murderbot, about neurodivergence and trauma in Murderbot. Or you could simply relax and enjoy a funny, action-packed sci-fi adventure. (Murderbot has it aaaalllll.)
I love going to conferences to attend talks, but I'm not a fan of all of the social stuff around it, because 1) I usually do not know anyone, 2) I am abysmal at networking, 3) it's just not what I'm here for.
I've been told many times that it's not that hard, to just go and engage people in conversation, but I just... can't.
I'd love to stop feeling awful about it and simply enjoy the conference the way that is comfortable for me, but it feels like everything there is designed to make me feel like a lonely loser.
Last night we went to see a show by Circus I Love You. There's something about a good circus show that always moves me to tears and reminds me of who I am: I am someone who deeply loves circus (and who loves bitching when I do not like a show).
HAPPY PICCOLO DAY TO THOSE WHO CELEBRATE
Speed (1994) is such a movie. It's one of the most movies, in my opinion. Many movie-like qualities, including a scene of Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock making out (spoiler alert for a movie that came out 30 years ago).
