@gruber You can still touch and hold the App Store icon on a home screen and choose Updates to go directly to the list of apps to be updated. Whew…. I use that all the time.
@gruber America thanks you for your service! ;)
@ianbremmer indeed. I’m surprised more is not being made of this.
@gruber I often have to remind myself that Apple knows what’s coming. For instance, why bring the phone app to the iPad—the vast majority of which don’t have a cell connection—unless you intended for, say, an unfolded iPhone to run some version of iPadOS and be able to make a phone call without having to fold the phone closed?
@gruber Still there should be away to accommodate the difference in precision between a finger touch and a pointer.
@gruber Kinda like the enlarged stop-light window controls that expand when tapped on an iPad. That’ll probably be part of the Mac touch-based interface, wouldn’t you think?
@gruber I agree with everything that’s been said about resizing windows in macOS Tahoe (including the lack of an obvious control). It’s a bit wild to think you’d resize a window by dragging outside the bounds of the window. I can’t help but think, though, that this might be a pre-cursor to the rumored touch-screen Macs which will need a larger target forz a window with a finger rather than the pointer…

@gruber I was surprised to find there’s actually a name for this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Will_Rogers_phenomenon

I first heard it applied when John Connolly switched parties (from Democratic to Republican) and someone quipped: “The collective IQ of both parties just went up.”

@caseyliss Looks like iOS 26.1 may have solved my issues with wireless CarPlay. Several short trips later, no interruptions in podcast playback with Overcast.
@rmondello Why do you suppose it is that banks and medical providers haven’t adopted passkeys en masse? Are their systems too big? Do laws prevent it? One would think they would be at the front of the line to remove passwords from the equation.
