I've been sitting on this character for about 6 years without doing anything with him. I finally wrote him a backstory and personality. Typically characters represent a certain part of my childhood and this one pretty much copies what I remember myself being like as a toddler. It also mixes some lore with my Adri character, for a little bit of silly continuity.
Introducing Boomer "Gwimmawtaw"(Glimmertail) Raye
Full Name: Boomer Glimmertail Raye
Nick Name(s): Boo, Booboo, Flips, Joey, Baby, Babybug/Babyroo/Babybear/Osito, Mer, Glimmer, Spark
Gender: non-binary, doesn't care.
Sex: Male
Age: Unknown, developmentally he is possibly 3(?).
Physical Features: Boomer is a larger than average toddler. In short, he's a big baby. Nothing is off course or delayed, he's just big. Boomer is full of energy and likes to spin in circles, bounce around, skip and do flips, for no apparent reason other than it feels good. (And probably to burn off all that energy.) For reference, 3 year old boomer is about as big as the average 5 year old. Proportionally, he's like a tall 3 year old. Boomer's tail tip is a reflective white, and although it doesn't glow it can appear to be brighter than usual in dim in environments, like a reflector.
Development: Boomer can walk, climb, run and do basic tasks requiring dexterity such as building with legos or other small objects. He can hold pencils and crayons and copy letters and text and well as draw simple drawings. Boomer cannot speak or enunciate complex ideas clearly. Simple yes and no can be communicated. He appears to be slightly speech delayed however he seems to be reaching his growth milestones appropriately. He is better with single syllable words and occasionally can put together strings with multiple syllables but typically it will devolve to babble with complexity. Regardless of this fact he likes being spoken to even if he can't properly speak back. He can and does listen and often is not oppositional. (He aims to please.) He has some preschool knowledge of fitting shapes, understands numbers and simple sequential directions however he cannot read beyond a single syllable words. Specifically he does well with reading and speaking nouns: "dog, cat, mom, dad, baba" etc. Boomer is not potty trained nor potty training at this moment. He does not show any indication that he's ready for this milestone.
Personality: Boomer is your typical 3 year old with a 3 year old life. His day consists of waking up, exploring the world and learning a little bit here and there. His favorite activity is to play with his toys and order and organize them by some random criteria for the day such as size, shape, color or just his favorites. Considering he has an ipad and other modern tech accessible, he seems to have less interest in them compared to the typical toddler, often preferring older, analog and tactile things instead. (With supervision) you'll find him tinkering with old devices and flipping through manuals he can't really read. Boomer does not like to wear clothes except for his diaper and will rarely ever wear anything beyond that. Occasionally you can get him to wear a shirt or some leg warmers but typically he becomes very fussy if you try to put anything on him. If he gets cold he'll wrap himself in a blanket. Despite his name "Boomer" he's actually not all that stubborn or old fashioned. He loves to see new things. He'll usually do what you tell him to do and if you get him into a routine, he'll do things automatically. Just be careful not to alter the day to days too much or it might confuse and upset him. Explanations comforts him, so telling him what and why you're doing something will make him easier to work with. It's tiring, as you'll have to explain every single time but sometimes that's how caring for babies rolls.
Origins: Where did Boomer come from? He was brought here the same way Adri was(through time and space) and... Well, we have discovered some old text about him however it's in very bad shape. A lot of information is illegible or completely erased. We can clearly see his name is Boomer Glimmertail Raye. We believe his middle name is a nickname given to him by his family or tribe. The fact that his last name is "Raye" brings into question if he's Adri Sabawtoof Raye's brother. If this is the case, then it's likely, just like her supposed sister, he is thousands of years old. Adri has been in our care for 7 years but she has the attributes of a four year old. Unfortunately, Adri has no recollection of Boomer and thus, it is impossible to confirm if they actually are related. It's likely that Boomer's growth follows a similar path to Adri's. Based on developmental attributes we've guessed that Boomer is much like a three year old, albeit a bit large for a toddler. We suspect there might be some growth/time anomaly with his growth similar to Adri but research is still inconclusive and only time can give us the answer. We will continue to document Boomer's progress and milestones just like we do with Adri. If it turns out they are related, it looks like we'll be changing Boomer's diapers for 10 (earth)years, just like Adri. (sigh).
