I'd be the first to say, the landmark status of the Castro Theater must be preserved.
So many hallmarks of history are being plowed under. Not for the better.
But I will say, the fact that there was an activist group mobilized to keep the current Castro Theater seats intact is....bizarre.
Will never forget watching a 4 hour french art flick @ the Castro.....IN THOSE SEATS!
The complaints about the 'vintage' ness of the seating are legion.
NOBODY wanted those lumpy narrow odd angled OLD seats retained for posterity!
Posteriors everywhere were aghast at keeping those vintage contraptions as if they were a Matisse!
Sometimes change is for the better!

There's a lot of firsts in this exhibition and it really is a must see. As you can tell from the pics, the care the designers took in presenting the works in a contemplative way is so smart. It meshes with the intent of the exhibition so well.
