Bacterial infections in immunocompromised people often won’t clear without antibiotics,… sometimes more than one course with different types.
If you are wondering why there are shortages of cold medicines, fever reducers, and antibiotics, you might not need to look further than the spike in people with new immune problems.

When people acquire an immune deficiency (like the one caused by C-infections) they are more likely to both catch and get sicker from viruses, pathogenic bacteria and parasites. A family member has always had an immune deficiency, and when we have both caught something they need more medications and are more likely to get secondary infections (bacteria that take advantage of the fallout from fighting viral infections).
