This week, GÉANT joined AFR-IX telecom, ASREN, the European Investment Bank, French authorities & North African operators for the first landing of the Medusa Submarine Cable System on the French coast.
This milestone has been co-financed by the European Union through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme, under AFR-IX’s ATMED–DG and ATMED Nador–DG projects.
GÉANT is proud to contribute to this effort through the #EUMEDplus project.

GÉANT receives the contract to hyperconnect European supercomputers 🎉
The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) awarded GÉANT a contract to provide ultra-high bandwidth, secure, pan-European, interconnect services for the EuroHPC #supercomputing infrastructure.
Together, EuroHPC JU, GÉANT and the European NRENs are taking a major step in strengthening Europe’s supercomputing ecosystem, and safeguarding Europe’s digital sovereignty.

📢 The 2025 GÉANT Innovation Programme has been awarded to the GÉANT Digital Research Environment (DRE) initiative!
Based on the @SURF Research Cloud, the initiative is a close collaboration between SURF & GÉANT.
Four NRENs —SUNET, Switch, HEAnet & Sikt — will also contribute with their own funding by establishing national tenancies of the GÉANT DRE.
