@pims thanks tim! Yes indeed, so how many days can I actually do in a season ๐Ÿ˜œ

After 6863 days, yesterday was my final day at Google. Two months shy of 19 years.

Grateful for all the opportunities. The opportunity to travel the world, to work on the first iPhone app, to bring people together, to work with wonderful people, to redesign Google, to work on my favourite products and to eat all the free food.

There's no next thing, I'm retiring to spend time completing my side quests.

We are resurrecting the Geo Tokyo meetup that has been on a 3.5 year hiatus. @reustle and I are inviting those who like geeking out on maps and geo data to come join us on Apr 1 at FabCafe Tokyo for a good fun chat.

Geo Tokyo #6 - Spring 2026 ยท Luma

Join us for our 6th Geo Tokyo event! After a three year hiatus, we're back. This is a casual meetup of mapping enthusiasts in Tokyo. If you like making maps,โ€ฆ

Another vibe coded thing that was easier to make than to search for. A qrcode generator where I can mess with the pixels and see if it scans.

I dislocated my knee a month ago snowboarding, and so I've been channelling all my frustration and energy into building this big site about Japanese snowboards.
The world of Japanese snowboards is very fragmented and not so well documented, but also huge and fascinating. I'm learning a lot about the boards, but also the culture and people.

So here it is: a living archive of Japanese snowboards, those boards designed for riding that Japanese snow.

@avsm Mr. Claude managed to figure it out.
@avsm whoops, I only tested in dark mode hahaha. Thanks for the bug report, let me get Claude on to that.

As a fun experiment, while redesigning my website again this year, I wondered what would happen if I could navigate my website using terminal commands. Today, I got it working after a few attempts:

@nick that looks cool, I think the idea of a tool for creating better prompts thru multimedia (browser or otherwise) is very useful. For instance, what if I was on shadcn demo page and could tell it to do it like something that's implemented there.
@nick @michael @avsm there are also lots of books (atlas) in Japan dedicated to these topics like that, like the ramen or dumpling consumption per Capita etc hahaha
