Colours Of Roses
Last year, I posted some pictures of flowers growing in Cathedral Yard, here and here. This time I give you roses of different colours. Featuring raindrops.

Centenary Of Great Books
The current year of our lord 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of publication of not one, but two of my favourite books. Two favourite books by two favourite authors. One is The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. It's one of her early works and among the most popular. Hercule Poirot retires to the country (at this point, Agatha could not have had any idea she would end up writing her Belgian detective for forty years!) to grow vegetable…
Why did UK snub Sam Claflin’s Monte Cristo series?
In this post, I'm going to complain. I have previously blogged about The Count of Monte Cristo series, starring my favourite guy, Sam Claflin, in the titular role. In that blog entry, I mention that the series is an Italian production, but it's really a pan-European project--it was filmed in English and its cast and crew are from all over Europe.

They cut down Merlin the Tree!
I have previously posted pictures of a tree in Heaton Park, a tree that reminded me of an old wizard, so I named him Merlin. Here and here. However, on a recent visit to the park, I saw that Merlin is no more. No doubt they had a reason why they cut the tree--they wouldn't cut trees just for the sake of it in a place that is full of them--but that doesn't mean it's not sad.

A Stroll In Manchester 6
I wanted to start this post by saying that I've not done of these for a while--but of course I haven't, because they are spring-themed and spring only comes once a year. My Strolls posts are smartphone pictures taken in Manchester city centre. Parsonage Gardens, above and below. King Street. St John's Park. View from Deansgate towards Odeon Cinema. Cathedral Gardens with Chetham School of Music in the background. And a coffee and Sicilian lemon…
Trees, Trees, Trees!
Trees, because I always photograph them and because they are among my favourite things on this planet. And because it's spring, they are all leafy and green. To quote Anne of Green Gables, I just love trees. All photos taken in Heaton Park with my Canon.
Bluebell Time 2026
It's the bluebell season and here are some pictures of them. Photographed at Heaton Park with my Canon. Except for the bottom one which I took with my Pixel 9a.
Spring In Manchester
Spring is here--and I happened to have taken some nice pictures in this great city in this month of April, and here I share them with you: Midland Hotel with blossomed branches in front of it. Central Library with blossomed branches in front of it. Trees outside Manchester Art Gallery. Tulip growing in Cathedral Yard. It's a really good place for different flowers, as I discovered last year.
Beware Of Gulls!
Sign on a bin in San Marco square in Venice. They make gulls sound like menace. Do Not Approach!
Blossom Time 2026
We're in it right now. Make the best of it, for it is short. These three photographs are of this beauty that grows by the Manchester Cathedral. People were queueing to take a pic underneath it! Another one from the Cathedral Yard, grows right next to the tree above. This is a tree in St Peters Square, in fact there are several ones.
