I guess it's just that I like anime more than American media for usually drawing characters cuter (or otherwise better), especially with males. Same goes for indie media (which seems to have a heavier Japanese influence than the mainstream), which also draws males really cutely.
I'm not really in touch with Filipino, as I can't speak the language and I can't really keep up with Filipino news. It's ironic, too, since I was born into a Filipino family in America. However, one thing that I can proudly share is Filipino food. There's so many tasty dishes that it'd be so nice if you also tried them. For example, there's: - Siopao, a steamed, large meat bun. - Buko pandan, a dessert bowl with coconut, green everywhere, and gelatin cubes. - Kaldareta, a meat stew with carrots and potatoes served with rice. - Sapin sapin, a sticky and colorful (specifically purple, orange, and white) rice cake. - Anything Ube, basically (Sweets flavored with a purple sweet potato).
There's a lot of other stuff that I didn't mention, but I hope this makes you interested in trying these neat foods. The Philippines has quite a vibrant culture, and these foods are a great example of that.
