I am excited to share that my science fiction story "I'll Be Your Mirror" appears in this week's Strange Horizons! It's a quiet story about found family, androids, and claiming your own identity. (CWs: pandemic and cancer.) http://strangehorizons.com/fiction/ill-be-your-mirror/
I'll Be Your Mirror

If Dr. Brinsen investigated this, it might come out that the first ever human-like artificial intelligence was sabotaging our colony’s premier medical researcher. I would be seized and my algorithm…

Reminder that FEMA is doing an emergency alert test on all TVs, radios, and cell phones on October 4, 2023, at approximately 2:20pm Eastern Time.

If you live in the US and have a phone you need to keep secret for any reason, make sure it is turned off during this time, and *Do Not Turn It On Again Until You Are Alone And Safe* because the alert will come through as soon as that phone is powered on.

Repeat: FEMA alert, October 4th, turn off in advance any phones you don’t want making noise. And remember that the Alert Will Come Through As Soon As The Relevant Phone Is Powered Back On.

@sigridellis yay I hope you are feeling better!

It’s weird to me when people frame calls for bike-friendly infrastructure as in conflict with disability accommodation. Make a city good for biking requires lots of smooth curbless bike paths that are perfect for mobility scooters, much better than trying to use your scooter on the road or the sidewalk. I see people zipping around on their mobility scooters everywhere in Amsterdam. They also have these tiny little cars for people with disabilities that are allowed to use all bike infrastructure

Hello!

I would like to recruit you!!

Specifically, #Wiscon, the intersectional feminist SF/F convention I love, is taking a gap year to reorganize and recruit. (We need to operate without burning people out like fuses at Christmas.)

But that is NOT what I want to recruit you for!

Here is the newsletter detailing what we are looking for at this time, namely some specific area knowledge.

All the details are in the newsletter, and thank you for taking a look.
