I have never been able to classify my specific type of nerdery, one day I will work it out.
I'm on ioc.exchange as I can trust the infosec community to send a verification email without DKIM failure. Which is more than I can say for the various social areas I tried first.
(I did however just spend 2 years at an infosec startup, and yonks ago was a Windows sysadmin so can talk some shop too)

The paradise paradox:
Crypto people I have been exposed to on a lot of online places have been insufferable.
Crypto people that come to live on this tiny island (Madeira) have been super nice and lovely.

I think wait and see, and maybe set up a friends and family instance for me.
I do feel bad if the community here has expectations on topics of conversation and they’ve got a bunch of ex-bird site people flouting that and getting in the way of what they expect. It’s like a stag party group arriving in your quiet pub…
To add insult to injury, most of the friendly infosec people I know who are happy to chat about not work things are on the other instance!

I am an idiot. I just spent 48h thinking I was on infosec.exchange when I am in fact on ioc.exchange. Even found it using a bird migration tool too!
It seems #hachyderm might be the party for me, but I believe I lose my posts and followers? Any migration tips? I don’t feel properly aligned to infosec - I talk about so much else.
