MotoRace USA (arcade)

I launched MAME just to get a screen-shot of the MotoRace USA title (to go with the Zippy Race, Traverse USA, and MotoTour ones that this game is also distributed as), and I ended up playing the game for 20 minutes. 😄 Still a fun arcade classic. Like a cruise-y Monaco GP. 😊

I love the raster effects in the border that make it look like the horizon extends the entire width of the display — which isn't something computers of the day could ever do. 😄

Looks cool on the C64emu emulator with the CRT bezel reflections. đŸ“ē

I don't exactly *need* another Atari-to-USB joystick adapter, but I saw these ones on iCode dot com for a good price and thought "why not?" 😊

I'm surprised at just how much I like the wee display that shows the directions and button-presses it sees. 😄

Pew pew pew!
😎

I think it's fair to say that I categorically don't need joystick buttons in either silver or gold.

And yet I still clicked "buy".
(I regret nothing.) 😄

Naughty Ones (Amiga)

It's like a Bubble Bobble back-story, except they weren't turned into dinosaurs. 😊 The bouncy-balls as weapons mechanic is kinda fun, but you realise the electric shot power-up is so much more effective.

But a fun single-screen platformer all the same.

Space Movie Demo (Trap demo — C64)

A cute and artsy one to watch, is this. 😎 I reckon the best way to distribute your demo is to release an entire commercial game (TRAP), and hide the demo inside of it. It's activated by entering the name "demo" on the high score table. đŸ•šī¸

Bob Stevenson (C64)

You know, before I saw the work of Jim Sachs, there was the amazing pixel work of Bob Stevenson. I don't know how he made that colour palette work so well at such a low resolution. 😮

Defender of the Crown (Amiga)

My word that Jim Sachs knew how to arrange some pixels, didn't he?
😎

POD (C64)

A pure and simple shoot-em-up, for either one or two players. Each level is timed, so you decide whether it's easier to shoot them or avoid the aliens. But explosions damage the self-repairing grid. So your movement can be restricted if things blow up in the wrong place.
