"Sowing Seeds, Digging for Dreams" is a commemorative sculpture I made from my dad's salvaged shovelheads and metal scraps.
He passed away in 2020. At the time, I didn't know he was having a stroke, as we had our last conversation, watching the Steller's Jays picking seeds and hanging from the sunflowers on my front porch. I used the theme of this poigniant moment for a solo exhibit commemorating him called "Tangible Stories," at The Old School House in Qualicum Beach, in 2023.
This piece also had an interactive element from another project I will share next.
