Old computer repair, history, and programming. One of these days I might actually use one of the machines I've fixed up. #retrocomputing #pc88 #pc6001

@th ooh good tip, thanks. I'm not sure why the console is blocked, it was working fine in the emulator when I built the image. A problem for another day when I get a working mouse.
@gsuberland Steve will be back soon to set all this right
@kiwa eventually my kid is gonna find my high school mp3 cds
It was super fun to present my talk, 'the unreasonable effectiveness of the Fourier transform', yesterday at #Teardown2025! It was gratifying to have a full room that mostly seemed to be following along with my ADHD firehose; my goal with this talk is to demonstrate that this sort of radio technology doesn't have to be only the realm of experts, but instead that it can be accessible to almost everyone.

When I have a video available, I'll post it. In the mean time, here are the resources from it: https://joshuawise.com/resources/ofdm/
@vga256 love a board fix.
@MuseumJoe have you considered fleeing into the woods and living as a hermit, only leaving occasionally for supplies and various revenges?
@ChartreuseK @errant @CursedSilicon that would explain it. You should add some more SparcStations for structural support.
@delan thank you for making this!
@ChartreuseK @errant @CursedSilicon those bezels look so thin...
@ifixcoinops I would definitely read this. I went through four tubes of caulk last fall and I think I made my money back.

The #sparcstation lives! It's been nearly a decade. Not sure why I can't get a console in my regular user account, but that's the least of my worries. Is there a way to use Sun OpenLook without a mouse? #sun4m #retrocomputing #retrounix
@leadedsolder the OpenLook UI and widgets are my favorites, especially the little corner decorations.
(no idea about keyboard shortcuts, sorry!)

@th @leadedsolder Agreed; it’s the best-looking GUI of its era.

Did the OpenLook source code ever get released? I know the window manager (olvwm) was open-sourced, and OSF/Motif eventually made it out into some similar status (possibly after it ceased being a revenue stream).

@leadedsolder based on the default olvwm config in the source file, it looks like you might be able to open an xterm instead of cmdtool -C, which requires rw permission to access /dev/console
