This was my tenth(!) year building 25 days of puzzles for #AdventOfCode. You can solve them all for free! Most people write code to solve them, but you can solve them however you like. I hope they help people become better programmers. 🌟

The first puzzle comes out in two hours: https://adventofcode.com/

Advent of Code 2025

@Newmy as soon as I heard Sandstorm I knew this would be worth a watch

It was a huge honour for me today with Raphael to posthumously hand over the European #SFSAward 2024 to #vim developer Bram Moolenaar for his invaluable contributions to the #FreeSoftware community.

If you are a #vim user, have been an #vim user, or admire Bram's work, please boost this message.

@soulcutter yea I think it’s something like that. I also noticed my echo remembered a timer that was running through a power cycle, which isn’t particularly amazing but would require some persistence mechanism (that they already would’ve built for alarms…)

…the plot thickens! Alexa *also* limits timers to 24 hours.

I presume this means it’s all just an alarm behind the scenes. Odd that Apple & Amazon would have the same constraint… maybe there’s a common hardware timer component to blame (presumably to make the alarm more reliable than pure software?) @atpfm

Did you know Siri limits timers to 24 hours? @atpfm
We are working to make this option available to all public accounts on Threads, not just a handful of testers. We're starting small to make sure we have time to work through all the challenges, as our systems historically have been not been designed with this use case in mind.
Enjoying watching people play the new kaizo mario hack #gpw3 https://www.twitch.tv/directory/category/super-mario-world
Super Mario World - Twitch

A 2D platformer and first entry on the SNES in the Super Mario franchise, Super Mario World follows Mario as he attempts to defeat Bowser's underlings and rescue Princess Peach from his clutches. The game features a save system, a less linear world map, an expanded movement arsenal and numerous new items for Mario, alongside new approaches to level design and art direction.

.@atpfm It would be great if they added a "volume control" to the AirPods Transparency Mode. You could go both ways: Turn the real world down - or up!

Seems like that's such an obvious feature perhaps there's a reason why it doesn't exist.

@getajobmike You mentioned using Janus in the past; you might be surprised at how capable yet simple Vim can be without all of the extensions those kits include.

Read "Practical VIM" by Drew Neil and follow along with his examples to think about editing differently (i.e., the vim way).

Neovim's defaults are pretty sane. Once you know the vim way, you may need very few plugins in your lightweight, from scratch vimrc. Mostly language support vs plugins that try to turn vim into an IDE.
