@tomw lol. Not very clear was I? A holiday in your own country, where you leave your home but you do not go abroad.
@tomw Def the 3rd choice is a Brit thing… After decades of getting on a plane being told you couldn’t was a big thing. And then being too wary to go abroad a staycation it was…
@mcfadden And haven’t been in a library for at least 20 years, and still less see the point of them…
@craiglemoult @gbhnews $46,000 is actually equivalent to the average income of a household in London…
I do love how you get things stated as fact, if you ignore this particular political move, etc., etc., without anyone stating at any point which country they are talking about… Give you one guess as to the worst offenders… #noteverythingisaboutyou
@Quokka Ah. An investment, but I imagine they would be worth it. 😊
@Quokka It’s good when life comes up with the goods… Now imagining the hat… So much choice - so little time… A Tilley perhaps…?
@hauntedhideaway Ah but the new way now is not the actual banning of them - but the revision of them for ‘sensitivity’. Roald Dahl and Agatha Christie have already been under scrutiny. But if you alter what the writer wrote you then lose what was causing them to write that way? For example how writers were writing in the 30s in Britain? What they, at that time, believed? Even if it is now regarded as offensive. You have to read it as it was, not the white-washed version…
@nona80_swanette 😊 but to me - divided by a common language maybe - a rock pool wouldn’t mean a pool carved out of the rock to make a swimming pool. A rock pool would be a little shallow natural formation where the kids go with their shrimping nets to search for trapped fish, or, more usually, crabs. Your picture reminds me of the pool on my home island. My uncle swam in it every day of his life, as far as we are aware. Too chilly for me though…
