I have concerns re this instance running outdated code several releases behind, a Very Bad Practice inviting unfortunate things when running #opensource software, so my M profile will live on elsewhere.

So from rummaging through my old mastodon accounts, I've found 4 that are still viable. I'd been thinking I'd use this account as a kind of primary because it loads quickly. But I have questions about the server's maintenance. So I think I have to choose one of the other three, which means getting a better sense of those servers. Then I'll get to delve into the migration process. Updates tk

@clarissawam Well that's not reassuring, especially when this instance seems to be a few (security) releases behind. Maybe I need to migrate to one of my other accounts before waving over everyone at birdsite

@andrlik thanks! hmmm trying it now, proving a bit unstable. Crashed first time after logging in. Tried disabling animated emoji but they’re still animated. Do like FOSS though

What mastodon mobile #app are you using on iOS?

Mastodon app doesn’t support multiple accounts. UI is clean, helps keep the noise down, but tbh I’m not sure what I might be missing.

Tootle’s UI nicely works in a lot, and it supports multiple accounts. But developer Moortz hasn’t updated it in a couple of years. It works fine from what I can tell, but with Mastodon 4 arriving…?

I see newer apps in the App Store, fewer ratings, sometimes questionable privacy policies…

Recommendations?

I used to have a few accounts on different mastodon servers. At least one has been deleted. I’m trying not to feel offended. A couple servers seem to have gone under, including a witchy one that was kind of my fave. This account lives! My refuge as I flit away from the blue checkmark for sale.
