Nick's Labyrinth
I continued my morning exercise walk past Laberinto Verde: floreciendo and in amongst some trees I bumped into a new-to-me labyrinth. And when I search the web for it, I don't find anything. I guess this #SanFrancisco labyrinth isn't just new-to-me, but rather plain ol' new. If you head into the park southwest some tens of meters from the Lincoln Blvd & 25th Ave entrance, you can spot it: Nick's Labyrinth. It's not totally obviou…

A few weeks back, I blogged a picture of the #SanFrancisco road mural Laberinto Verde: floreciendo. It was hard to figure the mural out from my picture; it's a big mural on the ground; so my on-the-ground picture was kinda an edge-on view. Today on my morning exercise walk, I walked past that mural again, but this time I noticed the bluff overlooking the mural; the mural is ~under Prayer Book Cross, which is up high. So I walked on up and took some pictures.
These pic…

"all of these tweets asking how we can get Musk to buy X are funny, but his net worth is dropping like a stone, so we really need to think strategically about what are the most important things for him to tank before he runs out of cash"
Some days back, I mentioned I was tinkering with a little #SanFrancisco COVID dashboard, estimating the risk of going to the supermarket vs getting groceries delivered. Since then, I learned more about the measurements available.
I wondered if I was messing something up; my dashboard said things were getting risky. But local medical-research smartie, UCSF med school big wig, and COVID risk watchdog Bob Wachter hadn't tweeted about being careful. But then yesterday, h…

Some Twitter executives resigned last night; specifically execs who make sure that users' private information stays private. So, long story short, I deleted my Twitter account.
Short story long in the attached screenshots.
The Octothorpean Twitter account is still there, though it's mostly just a "We've moved to Mastodon" signpost. The Octothorpean Twitter account didn't have any private information to speak of, whew!
I just went through the emotional rollercoaster of watching someone solve a #puzzle live on video. It was a puzzle I helped write, so I was pretty much either yelling "no no no" or breathing "whew!" the whole time. (Fortunately I don't have a microphone attached to this computer or else my yells probably would have been pretty spoiler-y.) Cute Mage solved it 99% solo, which is inconceivably difficult to me, except that I just now saw it done. Anyhow, only w
Poll Clerking 2022
Friends, I have a tale of luxury and decadence.
November 8, 2022, I once again volunteered as a poll clerk for a #SanFrancisco #election . Though California was a vote-by-mail state, it had only been so for a few years; thus San Francisco had 500 polling places in garages, firehouses, schools, etc etc.
This was my swankiest clerking gig yet. I and five other clerks were set up in Jay's house's basement garage. Jay was enthu…
