in November, Elon Musk mocked laid off Twitter employees, saying “their immense talent will no doubt be of great use elsewhere”

well, apparently some went to Meta to build Threads & Musk now has a problem with that

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Berlin would not stand in the way if Poland decides to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine. French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out sending heavy tanks to Ukraine.

Marion Walter was born in 1928 to a Jewish family in Berlin.

In 1939, she escaped Nazi Germany on a Kindertransport - a rescue operation that evacuated thousands of Jewish children to England before WWII.

Eventually Marion arrived in the US & earned her doctorate in math education from Harvard. She became a professor & founded the Boston Area Mathematics Specialists focused on improving math education for children.

Marion Ilse Walter was born in Berlin and escaped the Nazis on the Kindertransport to England. She emigrated to the United States in 1948 and after earning her doctorate, founded the Mathematics Department at Simmons College. She published over 40 journal articles, several children's books, and the popular book The Art of Problem Posing.

Chemist and educator St. Elmo Brady was born #OTD in 1884. He was the first Black American to receive a PhD in Chemistry (University of Illinois, 1916).

Brady worked on organic acids, IR spectroscopy, and halogen compounds, and significantly expanded chem programs at four HBCUs.
