Finding my quiet place under the sun đŸŒ»

#Donut for growing as a manager today

My junior came to me with a quick note to confirm something on Project A. My gut told me there was more underneath than what was being said. Digging deeper and uncovering more problems (B and C) was a little emotional (“why do I have to do this / figure it out?”), but with some processing help from my mentor, I pushed through. We are on our way to adressing A, B, and C now.

I did get frustrated. I did let my emotions get to me. But I didn’t dwell (too long), and I didn’t let that stop me from doing the right thing—or from supporting my junior at the end of the day.

I may not feel like it yet, but even my mentor tells me that this is worth a donut. So I'm celebrating it, posting about it, and not letting my feelings get the better of me a second time today.

This is the poppadoms I bought over the weekend. I’m opening the can now as my donut. đŸ„ł

#Donut post for not shying away from Improv Jam No. 2

Improv is teaching me that I really need to listen more closely—both to what others are saying and to what they’re doing. That increases the chance that we build a good story as improvisers.

I still get stuck in my head a LOT. But today, I somehow delivered something that made the room LOL—even though inside, I was panicking about what to say next. It's in the most unexpected of things where the funny sneaks out.

Too bad I couldn’t see it myself (note to self: ask someone to record next time for review and improvement).

For my reward: this is Chateraise’s Nama Chocolate Daifuku Cup. Tastes a lot like warabi mochi, but dusted in dark cocoa powder with a gooey, chocolatey filling.

#Donut post of $3 × 1.2 (tax + SC) saved

Had dinner yesterday and didn’t realize my combo selection already came with a drink. I had ordered a Coke Zero separately, but apparently lemon twist in "mushroom soup and lemon twist" counted as a drink too (thought it was just seasoning—my main was chicken with lemon cream sauce 😅).

I was ready to accept the sunk cost and just bring the Coke Zero home, when a staff member passed by and I asked if I could cancel it. They pushed back once (“already served”), but eventually checked with the manager—who quickly said yes.

Small thing, but big win for me. You don’t just find $3 lying around on the street these days! Haha.

Another back #Donut post

2025 Sep 2: Delivered a well crafted feedback not only on chat, but also F2F, in a calm and collected way. Smoothly. IN ENGLISH!

*snap snap snap* moment

I did not get lost in the excuses-volleys. It was a real improvement from previous instances!

The key was the pre-articulation and the prep work for countering the likely responses. My manager tool kit has just expanded.

Back #donut post.

2025 Aug 30: Attended my first improv jam and attempted my first 3-min improv scene.

Memorable elements:
Muggle clothes in Harry Potter World with an Actual Actress
Crypto Currency and Glenfiddich with the Organizer

I could make this a #doughnutpost, but for today I'm just calling it - - pastry i wanted to try and so i did post!

#Doughnut is a Choya Plum Shochu with Soda

An absolute treat! I will forgo drinking a coke if i have these babies. I have a pack worth. This glass is just 1/8 of its contents.

This is a reward for going home early today and fixing myself a dinner i absolutely loved. Dinner in the second pic. (I hope to do it mor often!)

This #doughnutpost was goood but very guilt-causing. I will avoid next time haha. Unless i really crave.

Fried enoki, salted! For finishing my report today and sendubg it over to client.

#Doughnutpost Got me a cute spoon! Ahhhhh my breakfast is now more fun.

For being able to close the week without weekend work!
