Finally made it to the Diego Rivera show at #SFMOMA before it closes next month. It was exciting to see his original inspirations come alive through his sketches

The Ohlone gave the name “Toyon” (Heteromeles arbutifolia), which is the ONLY California native plant which is STILL identified by its indigenous name. I would like learn more about the first names given to CA native flora. I painted this from the gorgeous specimen found at my local park, Cayuga Terrace. Look for the finely-toothed elliptic leaves, and the bright red berries with the star bottoms--like tiny apples

My 70s kid, bike riding spirit washed over me today. All day, all day: banana seat, rubber band around my bell bottom, playing card slapping the back spokes
