I'm a professional yak barber, code butcher, and occasional engineer in San Francisco. Recently been doing a lot of ruby, typescript, and AWS-ish stuff, mostly for tiny startups. Currently at a stealth startup.

Watching kung fu films like:

Emperor: Obviously you've perfected a sword move to kill me from exactly 10 paces away
Protagonist: Yes, of course, obviously.

When I mostly ditched twitter, I found that a lot of the great technical content moved to mastodon and a lot of the great shitposting went to bluesky. Personally, I want both, but I followed the technical content here.

Over the last few weeks it seems like more good tech content is heading to bluesky, so I think I'll probably head there for a while (https://bsky.app/profile/kevinkuchta.com). I reserve the right to return if I feel like it. :)

@csara Interesting! I set up a todoist account the other day, but didn't quite get the recurrences working properly. I'll have to take a closer look!

Anyone have a good tool for managing recurring home tasks? I'm thinking of, like, “clean the freezer once a year" and “change the furnace filter every 3 months.”

It feels like this niche has a lot of overlap with both todo apps, project management apps, and reminder apps, but doesn't quite fit any of them right.

@raven That said, I *am* pretty excited to go through some new mechanics. The new planets sound really interesting and interplanetary logistics sound like they could be fun. :)

@raven That's fair.

I always get to the first rocket, then say "I'm gonna do a megabase now!” and then give up after laying 20% of the foundation for that.

The only time I ever succeeded in doing a megabase was when I came up with a totally-self-contained mini-factory, then stamped out 50 of them until I hit one-rocket-per-minute. XD

Three days left, and I've got a couple long flights coming up :). https://isitfactoriodayyet.com/
Is It Factorio Day Yet?

I feel like I'm pretty good at switching between languages these days, but `elif` vs `elsif` vs `else if` never ceases to trip me up. Just pick one, you bastards!
I found a hookup for *good* cider in San Francisco and I am unreasonably excited about it.

Anyone know of a good online tool for building gantt charts? Specifically looking for:

1. Free
2. Online
3. No signup needed
4. Just make the chart, not manage my whole project
