well, from my limited sample size of like… [single digit] smut fanfics and [single digit] “regular” fanfics lol… I've seen interesting patterns

- smut fanfics spike immediately and consistently in terms of views and kudos but comparatively few comments
- non-smut fanfics get less views and kudos but the people who do engage are REALLY engaged and leave lots of comments

I think people like to read the smut but get embarrassed about commenting. which, like, okay, fair, I got embarrassed writing it lmao. but come on. I sucked it up and put it on the internet anyway lol
