2023 Races – British Human Power Club

Merry Hell has been enhanced with sinister mutant pondweed...
Achievement unlocked: Traditional British weather.
Yeah, this sort of thing always happens when I ride a mountain bike... Next time I'll try not to land with my hand in some dog poo. 🤮
Registration for the upcoming British Human Power Club races at Betteshanger and Gravesend on the 23rd/24th of September is now open to BHPC members and non-members.

We will be hosting the World Human Powered Vehicle Association championships at Betteshanger in August 2024, so the Saturday's event should serve as a useful opportunity to check out the track and refurbished facilities.

Well this is depressing. It's like every bolt and cable tie has a story...
That's not supposed to be like that :(

Sprint timer worked flawlessly, apart from (as anticipated) 3 high bikes with skinny tyres that didn't interrupt the beam of the $4-from-AliExpress laser beam-break sensors for long enough to overcome whatever low-pass filtering they do. Hopefully the proper tape-switches will avoid that problem.

I did rubbishly in the sprint, though, as I mis-timed my effort and was already slowing down by the time I entered the traps.

2 hour race wasn't too bad, at least.

Gosh, just checked and I seem to have this too. Does this mean Ricardo is more reliable than the UK's emergency alert system?

Attached: 1 image Apparently I and everyone else with a Motorola smart phone received this cryptic notification this morning. It only says "Test for Ricardo." Motorola doesn't even know what happened.
