Criminals involved in a notorious prostitution ring are continuing to use a European privacy law to hide online articles about their misdeeds. The practice was previously exposed by the Irish Independent in 2021. However, it has continued despite criticism of Google for acceding to “delisting” requests from convicted pimps under the “right to be forgotten” law. The law stems from a decision of the Court of Justice for the European Union. The decision established a right for individuals to request that search engines delist webpages containing information about them that are "inadequate, irrelevant or no longer relevant, or excessive".
