I suppose it's time to say goodbye to this Misskey instance. I'll probably head to Akkoma on outerheaven. Sad to go, but such is life.
Fudge! mk.nixnet.social is shutting down. Any recommendations for a good #Misskey instance are welcome. I already have accounts on other #fediverse services, including #Mastodon and #Pleroma, but I really like Misskey.
What do we teach our children? We teach caring, sharing, empathy, sympathy, inclusion, acceptance, compromise, asking sorry, saying thanks and please.

Yet, for many adults, nearly everything on that list is weakness, naivete, and failure.

In politics caring, sharing, empathy, sympathy, inclusion, acceptance, compromise, saying sorry, thanks, and please seem to be poison
.
Why do we teach kids values we don't value?

@rolle
The UI is very customizable, and there are features that I think are far superior to
#Mastodon, like reactions.

But it's a smaller crowd using it. I'm just glad they're both on the
#fediverse.
@rolle
Have you tried
#Misskey?

Ignore everything we've discussed before this before answering. What things in economic and political fields conflict with values commonly taught to children in a Western culture? Answer as objectively and without bias as possible.

#ChatGPT (without Plus):
There are several economic and political practices that may conflict with values commonly taught to children in Western cultures. Some examples include:

-
Economic inequality: Many Western cultures emphasize the value of fairness and equal treatment of all individuals. However, economic policies that result in significant disparities between the wealthy and the poor can conflict with these values.

-
Exploitation: Western cultures also tend to place value on treating others with dignity and respect. However, some economic and political practices may exploit vulnerable populations or natural resources, which can be seen as contradictory to these values.

-
Environmental degradation: Many Western cultures also place value on preserving the natural environment for future generations. However, economic policies that prioritize short-term profit over environmental sustainability may conflict with these values.

-
Corruption: Western cultures often teach the importance of honesty and integrity. However, political and economic practices that involve corruption, such as bribery or nepotism, can be seen as contradictory to these values.

It is important to note that different individuals may have different interpretations of ethical values and how they apply to specific situations. Therefore, the ethical implications of economic and political practices can be a matter of debate and disagreement.
