That anger you felt on Twitter? It was intentionally fomented by an algorithm to keep you clicking, emotionally manipulating you to sell more ads. It didn't stay there either. It seeped into your life, poisoning you and your interactions in ways you didn't realize.
There's none of that here. Give it a few days, and you'll see. #CoSoRocks
I've seen enough. I can no longer justify my continued participation on Twitter.
I've thought about how to handle the account itself, and I think there is value in the history it reflects. It served as an extension of my efforts as an Instructional Designer, and I will miss the awesome members of that community. It will remain active and complete, severed at the moment that it became untenably evil.
Twelve years is a good run, but do we have a choice. I've made mine, and I am happy to be here.
^^ That's as close as anything gets to "viral" around here.
That's good, because you know. Viruses are bad. #CoSoTips
Let's try an analogy.
You're on a boat. It's big enough for you and all of your friends, and it weathers the seas just fine with all of you aboard.
Now let's imagine that a villainous billionaire is in the process of sinking a cruise liner next to your boat in the middle of viscious storm, and you have to scramble to keep your boat afloat as many, many, many new people climb aboard.
That's @th3j35t3r today. Be kind. This stuff tends to get sorted very quickly.
