If you're switching over to Anthropic's Claude to thumb your nose at Pete Hegseth and his desire to build an autonomous AI drone military with no guardrails, there are some things you should know before switching.

It always fascinated me how inept at SEO Google's non-SEO teams were/are. What mistakes do you see in Google Ads robots.txt file?

If work often feels less like freedom and more like servitude, it isn’t personal — it’s systemic.

I lived through it: 12-hour days, skipped vacations, burnout, and a forced resignation.

See my new post on corporate feudalism and how we can rebuild a fairer future.

🏰 Are We Living in the Age of Corporate Feudalism?

NOTE: This is merely a thought experiment. It is a concept that I've been exploring for a while now, and I've learned over time that I'm not the only one.

@cmccullough Hi Chad. I don't know you, but I can tell you that being well-known in an industry doesn't help. I've been on the SEO speaking circuit for over a decade, and it took me forever to land a contract gig (not even a full-time job). It's ageism, pure and simple. That and the fact that companies will always go with the cheapest option (e.g. fresh-out-of-college 20-somethings), regardless of skills. It's ridiculous. ... Anyway, good luck with your next endeavor.
I've decided to be brutally honest with these recruiters who reach out to me with opportunities that have insultingly low rates. Perhaps if I was in my 20s, living in a shared low-cost apartment, and just starting out in SEO I would consider it. Calibrate your expectations, recruiters.
It's a pivotal time in our industry. Perhaps it's time to pivot your career as well.
