i’m hiring a part-time studio manager 🤗 https://forms.gle/nd4xBhGTAFY3B1dW9
Seeking Studio Manager

About you I am looking for someone who can help me with scheduling, finances, production, email correspondence, proposals, and general logistics and coordination. You will be based in the US. You will be starting around 5 hours a week and working up to 10 or more. You will have some relevant experience (for example: studio manager, production manager, arts administration, assistant, etc). About me My name is Kyle McDonald. I’m an artist based in Los Angeles working with code, and I’m looking to hire a part-time studio manager. My work usually blends social questions about technology with a deep technical proficiency. Sometimes my work is more political and other times it is more playful, but I try to have both if I can. Some of my main values in the context of my work are curiosity, creativity, play, and helping others. I strive to be transparent and I am always learning to be more reliable. I work for myself, for other artists, and for companies. When I'm working for myself, the work is sometimes funded by small grants from arts institutions, and sometimes self-funded, and is often presented online or in exhibitions and festivals. When I work for other artists, I'm typically providing technical direction for a vision they want to execute. Working for companies, I can be a consultant, or a technical director or creative director, and sometimes I manage a small team of up to six or eight people. Recently I'm pivoting away from working for other artists, and trying to do work that either pays very well or has a lot of creative freedom, instead of trying to mix both. I'm also opening up new directions that include going deeper into the tech job market (recently working part time for big tech), and also going deeper into the art market (recently selling my art for the first time). You can learn more about my work on my website or you can watch one of my recent talks about humpback whales and Pacific voyaging traditions or about AI and creativity. Compensation and Timeline This role starts at $35/hr and will automatically increase each year to match inflation, with additional yearly increases commensurate with experience gained. I am looking to start interviewing the week of November 25th, and to start working together December 1st. To apply Please fill out the following application. By November 25th I will either email you with a link to schedule a time to interview, or a note that I have decided to work with someone else. I am committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all without regard to race, ethnicity, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or genetics. People from groups underrepresented in the arts or tech fields are especially encouraged to apply. Parts of this text are based on my previous job listing.

or have you bent yourself into a new shape, made space for things more important than idealism? did illness, poverty, or parenthood turn you toward pragmatism? do you see this change as a necessary evil, or a more evolved state—a moral fluidity you wish you had adopted sooner?
for everyone who never “sold out”, who never took an opportunity for themselves knowing that it would harm someone else, who tried to avoid becoming a hypocrite, would you do it again? is the satisfaction of knowing you lived your values worth the difficulty?
