as someone who grew up mostly without celebrating Christmas with a tree and presents, having a tree still kinda blows my mind ☺️ a plastic one for reuse for the next years to come!

as most households in Japan typically do not come with an oven, my options when it comes to baking have been very limited and at the same time I don't want to clutter my kitchen with even more electric appliances than I already have so i bought a stove waffle iron to make waffles

the smell of waffles in my kitchen reminded me of home so much

went to Osaka today and I really love the city so much. Kyoto is relatively quiet by comparison - shops close early, most bars don't go for longer than midnight, actually as soon as it's 7pmish it's very quaint on most days. but I have always loved seeing people in busy streets, groups of friends going out, sometimes being a bit rowdy on the streets. this is exactly the vibe Osaka is giving me (not so far off from Shinjuku). so many fashionable people in Osaka too ☺️

this is how I've been feeling all week🙁

fourth covid booster shot is still a bit hard to get but I did get the flu shot today instead
I hosted a potluck and went overboard with food
on some nights I just sit in front of my computer with not a single thought in my head but ... brot
today in "it's the small things that matter", an unmanned small veggie stand in front of a residential house was selling roselle calyces today, the edible part of the hibiscus plant. the only thing I could read on the sign though was 'roselle' and that you could make tea out of it, next to them was a tea pot to indicate how to use them. I've never seen roselles before, so for only 100 Yen I grabbed a bag with like 12 of them and now I am enjoying some hibiscus tea. love the colour :)
since the pandemic, some prefectures and cities have had campaigns running to improve local tourism or gastronomy, like the Go to Eat campaign in Osaka. I paid 10,000 Yen (around 69€) to receive meal tickets worth 13,000 - will use these with a friend for a fancy all you can eat at a hotel restaurant in Osaka 🍁
